- 199 Kilómetros entre Jumilla y Murcia que siguen la tradición de ser una carrera con un perfil muy exigente.
The announcement was made during the signing ceremony of the agreement between the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia and M. Gallego, the Kia dealership in Murcia. As in previous years, they will be responsible for transporting the members of the organization and the technical jury of the Murcian race, which will take place on February 15.
For the first time, all the cars used for this purpose will be fully electric, as their 700-kilometer range allows them to cover all the necessary travel, beyond just the race itself, associated with the Vuelta.
"We have been with the Vuelta a la Región for many years," said the dealership's manager, Manuel Gallego Sánchez, "and we have evolved together. That's why it's a satisfaction to participate with these vehicles featuring the most advanced electric technology, contributing to making the Vuelta a Murcia more sustainable."
For his part, the race director, Paco Guzmán, thanked M. Gallego Kia for their annual efforts to be at the forefront of sustainability, a goal that the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia set more than five years ago. Following this, the route of the Vuelta was presented, covering 199 kilometers and, as always, traversing very selective roads that encourage constant competition among cyclists.
There will be three categorized climbs: two third-category climbs, Alto del Portazgo at kilometer 40, and Alto de la Cresta del Gallo, very close to the finish in Murcia, just 12 kilometers from the end. Before these, riders will face the traditional first-category Collado Bermejo, located 86 kilometers from the finish line, which is usually the scene of the race's first major selection.
